Meet Our Staff
G. Mark Graves, D.V.M.
VETERINARIAN
Dr. Graves is a life-long resident of Zionsville, IN. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1969 and the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1973 both from Purdue University. Dr. Graves's wife is a teacher in the Hamilton Southeastern School System. They have one married daughter and two grandchildren. Dr. Graves previously owned three small animal practices in the Zionsville and Indianapolis. His special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and practice management. He has a special pet, a cat named "Snickles".
Roger E. Nix, D.V.M.
VETERINARIAN
Dr. Nix was born and raised in a farming community of southern Indiana. He graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982 and has been practicing in the Indianapolis area ever since. His clinical interests include pediatric and geriatric medicine. Dr. Nix enjoys time with his wife, two sons, three dogs and their cat. His favorite hobbies are flying and sailing.
Anita
VETERINARY ASSISTANT / RECEPTION
Anita is Dr. Nix’s wife and enjoys working with him as a receptionist at Sherlock Bones. Anita graduated from Purdue University and then obtained her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from Memphis State University. She enjoys family time with their two sons, three dogs and cat. She is an active member of her church, and the Sertoma Club of East Indianapolis. Her hobbies include gardening, travel and photography.
Tarra
CERTIFIED GROOMER/ VETERINARY ASSISTANT
Tarra comes to our practice with 6 years of experience as a veterinary assistant. She has been living in Georgia for the past 9 years and just recently moved back to her hometown of Lapel, IN. Tarra is the mother of 2 human kids and 3 furry kids. Chyanna who is 11, Brady who is 3, Simon, a Shih-tzu, Phoebe, a Shih Tsu mix, and Garfunkel, a cat. Tarra's special interests include learning about new advances in the veterinary field, reading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Stephanie
VETERINARY ASSISTANT / RECEPTION
Stephanie has returned to work for Dr. Nix after a short hiatus to continue her college education. She has worked in the veterinary field for over 4 years after having worked at a humane society and zoo in Lafayette, IN. When she is not at work you will find Stephanie coaching cheerleading at Fall Creek Valley Middle School in Lawrence Township. She lives in Fishers with her crazy Labrador, Etta Jayne, Cattledog Mix, Dylan Robert, Brussels Griffon/Chihuahua, Princess Dot Com, and 2 cats Treble and Turk.
Sara
VETERINARY ASSISTANT / RECEPTION
Sara joins our team as a veterinary assistant and is extremely excited to begin her career in veterinary medicine. She is a full-time student at Indiana Business College, majoring in Veterinary Technology. In the little free time she has Sara enjoys reading, swimming, the great outdoors and spending quality time with her close friends and family. Sara has a cat that she loves named Rider whom she bottle fed from 2 days old.
Alex
VETERINARY ASSISTANT / RECEPTION
Alex has had a lifelong passion for animal care and research. While attending college at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, her studies focused on animal behavior. Alex has volunteered with the Monroe County Humane Society, including their wildlife rehabilitation branch, "Wildcare", and completed a volunteer internship with the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA. Alex now resides in Indianapolis with her cat, Merrill, and is very happy to begin a career in the animal care field.
Hannah
KENNEL ATTENDANT
Hannah is excited to join our staff as our newest kennel attendant. She is a student in the class of '09 at North Central High School and is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program through the J. Everett Light Career Center. In her free time she likes going to concerts, especially her brother Kile's concerts, and she enjoys spending time with Captain Jack, her German Shepherd Mix.
